FISHING REPORT – may 2015

The First and Only Lodge on the famed Middle Limay River!

The great news is that Limay River Lodge was not affected at all during the entire course of the Calbuco Volcano episode, and the Middle Limay has been, and is, totally unaffected…and the fishing continues to be great.

The end of our fishing season slowly approaches on this sunny morning as I’m standing on the bank by the Middle Limay River watching red cliffs in the distance. I can even “hear” the silence…

I can’t help but to reflect on the intensity of the experience this season has been to us in many aspects.

We’ve seen and learned many things… and there’s a lot to learn yet.

How are all these resident rainbows and browns going to react when the migratory brown trout invasion comes? Will they compete for space? Will they re-locate? Will they change their feeding habits and behavior? We’ll see… One thing’s for sure: it´s all so exciting!

May is a very interesting month on the Middle Limay…

It’s late season now and we’re seeing less people in the general area and therefore less fishing pressure everywhere in Patagonia. Those unexpected days of strong “Puelche” Wind (east wind) of late March are now over. Nights are frosty and days are sunny. The cold west breeze raises our spirits and encourages to keep exploring and discovering…

And the fishing has not ceased to be excellent.

More to come…

Cheers!

Jorge Trucco
